Just a week before Christmas, L’Auberge de Sedona called and asked if we could provide flowers for a last minute elopement on Friday, December 28th. There were no guests…. only the bride and groom for this intimate, romantic ceremony. The couple wanted a beautiful Chuppa decorated with fabrics and flowers and a lovely antique Chinese chest for the ceremony. We loved the idea that they wanted this lovely set up just for the two of them. We could not resist so we went all out.
A few days before the wedding date, weather reports began to forecast rain and or snow. After speaking with the bride and groom about the possible weather challenges, they told us to “go for it.” They were determined to be married at Spirit Song Terrace regardless of the weather.
It was an uncomfortable set up with intermittent cold rain, wind and snow. Regardless, we forged ahead and set up the primary structure on Thursday and added flowers on Friday, just a few hours before the ceremony. Our team were real troopers and no one complained.
Despite the cold rain and sleet, the couple braved the elements and had their romantic wedding. We decided to stand just out of site and watch the ceremony. Then, we tore it all down in the rain and snow. It was quite a day.
